Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Ramy Youssef and Cory Michael Smith to Lead Jesse Armstrong’s HBO Film

Steve Carell, Jason Schwartzman, Ramy Youssef and Cory Michael Smith will lead Jesse Armstrong’s upcoming HBO film.

The four actors will star as a group of billionaire friends who get together against the backdrop of a rolling international crisis, per the official logline.

The film, the title of which is currently remaining under wraps, marks Armstrong’s feature debut, as well as his first project since HBO’s “Succession,” which wrapped up its fourth and final season in May 2023. Armstrong will write, direct and executive produce the new film.

The movie is set to begin production this month in Park City, Utah, and will debut on HBO later this spring.

Carell (“The Four Seasons,” “The Patient”) will star as Randall, while Schwartzman (“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” HBO’s “Bored to Death”) stars as Hugo Van Yalk. Michael Smith (“Saturday Night,” “May December”) will star as Venis while Youssef (“Poor Things,” HBO’s “More Feelings”) stars as Jeff.

“I’m intrigued to discover whether being around so many brilliant actors and directors on ‘Succession’ has in any way rubbed off on me. Let’s hope so,” Armstrong said in a Tuesday statement. “I’m grateful to Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi and the whole HBO team for backing this film so wholeheartedly and helping me pull together a dream team of cast and crew.”

Additional EPs for the movie include Frank Rich, Lucy Prebble, Jon Brown, Tony Roche, Will Tracy, Mark Mylod and Jill Footlick.
