Marriott Bonvoy Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador members will lose their breakfast benefit at St. Regis Macao Hotel effective March 1, 2025.
A LoyaltyLobby reader alerted us to a discussion (access here) and notice on Marriott’s website about a breakfast benefit change at this hotel in about a week. The GM had implied that this policy is being expanded to all St. Regis and perhaps other properties, but that is not the case.
You can access Marriott’s page for St. Regis Macao here.

We have confirmed with Marriott that this elite breakfast benefit exclusion only applies to this property in Macao and is not expanding to other hotels in the chain.
You have to remember that Marriott’s legacy luxury brands, which it didn’t acquire from Starwood, Ritz-Carlton, and EDITION, don’t offer breakfast as an elite benefit, and upgrade benefits are only applicable from Titanium and not Platinum tier and higher.
Starwood also mandated that all Sheraton hotels have a lounge, even those at resort locations such as the Maldives, that was immediately removed once Marriott took over, as they (Marriott) didn’t even offer complimentary elite breakfast at any of the resort locations (this was later changed).
What really makes this St. Regis Macao breakfast benefit exclusion stand out is that Marriott, until very recently, had a carve out to some very large properties that had an option not to offer elite member breakfast if their lounge wasn’t open, but these all ended last year.
Recently, graphics on Marriott’s website indicated that the number of points earned at select brands was going to be cut in half, which turned out to be a mistake.

Conclusion
These benefit exclusions make the Marriott Bonvoy program extremely confusing. You need to read through the 100+ page Bonvoy program T&Cs to know what benefits you are due and what carveouts and guarantees you may be eligible for.
I am sure that many St. Regis hotels would prefer not to provide complimentary breakfast for Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador members, and surely those Ritz-Carlton and EDITION hotels would also prefer that elite members would not complain that they get this benefit at St. Regis hotels, but why not at theirs?
Marriott would do everyone a favor to have streamlined T&Cs and fewer carveouts for these specific properties. Remember that Ritz-Carlton Singapore is still not even participating in Bonvoy, which frequently comes up.
I hope this Platinum and higher member breakfast exclusion doesn’t spread to more St. Regis hotels.
