‘Scream 3’ Star Parker Posey Wants to Play Gale Weathers in a ‘Stab’ Movie

With Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard returning for next year’s Scream 7, it seems like anything is possible in the Scream franchise right about now. Both actors of course played characters in previous films who were definitely killed off, with Foley starring in Scream 3 alongside actors including Parker Posey. And Posey, well, she’s hungry for her own franchise return.

Parker Posey memorably played Jennifer Jolie in Wes Craven’s third movie, the actress playing Gale Weathers in the in-universe Stab movies. The actress reveals in a new chat with Entertainment Tonight that she pitched her agent on returning to play Gale Weathers in an actual Stab spinoff movie, something fans of the franchise have been craving for many years.

Posey tells ET, “There should be a Stab movie.” When asked if she would be up for playing Gale if that movie ever became reality, Posey responded with a simple “of course.” She joked, “I’d play Gale now, but then I’d play a younger Gale and I’d have all the Snapchat features.”

She also expressed that she’d be up for returning to the franchise as Jennifer Jolie, who was killed off in Scream 3. Death, after all, hasn’t stopped other characters from coming back.

Posey reflected on Scream 3 in 2023, “That was really fun. I can’t believe Wes Craven let me get away with some of the silly stuff I was doing. I loved him, and that was fun.”

The seventh installment is set to release in theaters on February 27, 2026.
