Rob McElhenney has shared a tweet celebrating the Super Bowl win of the Philadelphia Eagles by referencing his television series It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia native – who stars in the series as Mac – has long been vocal about his support for the team, which won the annual Super Bowl yesterday (February 10).
The show has previously made the sports team a recurring presence. In the season three episode ‘The Gang Gets Invincible’ from 2007, Mac, Dennis (Glenn Howerton) and Dee (Kaitlin Olson) try out for the team.
A more recent episode from 2018 titled ‘The Gang Wins The Big Game’ followed its main characters in their quest to attend the Super Bowl. The end credits of the episode featured real-life footage of McElhenney reacting to the Eagles’ win that year.

McElhenney also retweeted a tweet that used footage from ‘The Gang Wins The Big Game’ – where Mac and Charlie (Charlie Day) are seen beating up children – in reference to the match’s events that led to the team’s win.
A fan also pointed out in a tweet that the win took place on Day’s birthday, with others sharing their hopes for another Super Bowl-themed episode.
