Mr Chuck offers tips on how to enter the SketchUp Design Sprint Challenge 2025

TikTok creator and architect Mr Chuck has partnered with Trimble and Dezeen to explain how to enter the SketchUp Design Sprint Challenge 2025 in an exclusive video.

Noris Obijiaku, who is known by the name Mr Chuck on social media, created his own competition entry and documented it in a video in order to demonstrate how entrants can use SketchUp's software to respond to the brief.

The competition celebrates 25 years of SketchUp by challenging entrants to look 25 years ahead to the year 2050.

Entrants are tasked with creating a tiny space with a footprint of under 500 feet (152 metres), using SketchUp, in just 60 minutes.

The overall winner of the competition will receive a prize of $5,000, as well as a one-year subscription to SketchUp Studio.

Obijiaku, who is known for his tours of iconic British housing estates on TikTok, created a wellbeing-focussed future home for his competition entry.

"Picture a world where we retreat from chaos in 2050, where wellbeing, nature and spirituality have all made a powerful comeback," he said in the video.

"We're talking about that calm architecture – natural textures, soft lighting and spaces that ground you in the now."

He goes on to indicate how he used SketchUp's drawing tools to create the space's layout, and demonstrates how the Environments feature allowed him to introduce a panoramic background to his model with matching lighting conditions.

Other software features demonstrated in the video include Live Components, which are objects with configurable elements that can be downloaded from SketchUp's 3D Warehouse platform, and Photoreal Materials, which can be applied to surfaces in SketchUp for a more realistic depiction of how they absorb and reflect light.
