A Minecraft Movie hit cinemas last week (April 4) and fans are going nuts over the “Chicken Jockey” scene.

A Minecraft Movie sees Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison (Jason Momoa), Natalie (Emma Myers), Henry (Sebastian Hansen) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) trying to save The Overworld from evil Pig sorceress Malgosha. They’re helped out in their heroic quest by Jack Black’s Minecraft megafan Steve.

In one scene, Garrett and Steve try to distract the bad guys by entering a fight to the death. “Chicken Jockey,” warns Black’s Steve when their opponent, a baby zombie riding a chicken, is revealed.

Chicken Jockeys appear in the Minecraft video game and their inclusion in the movie was revealed when the final trailer was released earlier this year. Shortly afterwards, one X user shared an edit of the clip that sped-up with every loop. It’s since been viewed more than 3.5million times. “The movie is just gonna be Jack Black name dropping things for the game making band kids scream at the cinema,” replied one fan. Now A Minecraft Movie is out in cinemas, fans have been reacting to seeing the viral scene on the big screen. “Jack Black saying ‘Chicken Jockey’ almost had the theatre I was in cheering louder than Captain America saying ‘Avengers assemble’ in Endgame,” wrote one fan on X. “The Minecraft movie is truly one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen but the universal reaction to ‘Chicken Jockey’ made it all worth it,” said another.

Videos of the reactions have also gone viral across social media. One clip sees the entire cinema clapping and cheering Black’s “Chicken jockey” line while others have filmed themselves throwing entire buckets of popcorn during the scene. Another fan claims the Police had to be called due to the rowdy reaction to the “Chicken Jockey” moment.
