Resident Evil is one of the most beloved PlayStation franchises in existence. The survival horror series is arguably synonymous with Sony’s gaming platform, so it’s always an exciting time when new native ports for current-gen hardware are on the way — even for the entries that don’t get as much love as the typical fan-favorites.
Resident Evil 5 and 6 are heading to PS5
According to recently listed ESRB ratings (as spotted by Wario64), new Resident Evil 5 and 6 ports are set to release. These specific listings currently only list the Xbox Series line of consoles in its platforms section. However, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch for these new native ports to come to PS5.
Although some Resident Evil fans may be hoping for a remake of the series’ fifth entry, it does seem considering how close the time frame was between these two ratings, it seems this will just be a port. Typically, these types of games don’t include too many new features from their last-gen ports. So, don’t expect a full remaster of the two entries. At the very most, they may get some sort of resolution boost thanks to the PS5’s capabilities.
Resident Evil 5 and 6 are both available on the PlayStation Store, however, they are PS4 versions of the game. They are both currently on sale for just $4.99 and can be played on PS5 consoles.
Resident Evil 5 originally launched back in 2009. Upon its release, it received solid reviews. On review aggregate site Metacritic, it holds an average score of 83 out of 91 critic reviews. Resident Evil 6 initially released in 2012. The controversial entry holds an average score of 67 on Metacritic across 71 critic reviews. It is typically deemed the worst mainline entry in the popular survival horror series.
