Liam Gallagher not happy about Oasis reunion lineup leak

With stadium dates announced and openers announced the biggest question that remains about Oasis‘ much-anticipated reunion tour is who will be in the band besides Liam and Noel Gallagher. NME reported today that “sources close to the band” say this will be who’s playing in Oasis this year:

Gem Archer: played rhythm and lead guitar in Oasis from 1999 through their 2009 breakup; was also in post-Oasis offshoot Beady Eye, and later in Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds; in the ’90s led fellow Creation Records band Heavy Stereo.

Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs: Oasis’ original rhythm guitarist who left in 1999; played in Beady Eye and has toured as part of Liam Gallagher’s solo band, though he took time earlier this decade for cancer treatment.

Andy Bell: played bass in Oasis from 1999-2009 and then as part of Beady Eye; close friends with Gem Archer (who has played on Bell’s solo album); cofounder of shoegaze greats Ride who have been reunited since Beady Eye broke up in 2014.

Joey Waronker: Oasis have a few former drummers to choose from — Tony McCarroll, Alan White, Zak Starkey, Chris Sharrock — but according to NME, Waronker will be sitting behind the kit, making him the only “new” member of the band. He did play with Liam Gallagher and John Squire for their 2024 shows, and his CV includes Beck, R.E.M., Thom Yorke’s Atoms for Peace, and Roger Waters.

There has been no official word still from Oasis’ camp, but Liam Gallagher took to X/Twitter today following NME‘s article to voice his displeasure that the publication has a source close to the band. “NME tell me who your source pots are that keep giving you info about OASIS and I’ll give you an exclusive interview about up n coming OASIS tour,” he wrote before dropping a lyrical reference, “you can have it all but how much do you want it.” Liam then added,  “It’s not the lineup reveal I’m bothered about I’ll reveal that to you in a minute I’m more bothered about the line where it says a source close to the band and tour that really causes me a great deal of concern LG x.”

Liam then announced his own lineup reveal which was all former drummers: “Tony Mc drums Alan white bass guitar Zak lead guitar Chris Sharrock keys,” adding, “That’s a BANGING lineup” (add your own rimshot).

Will this be the actual Oasis lineup? Liam doesn’t exactly deny it in his responses, and apart from Waronker, this is who most people who were thinking about this were expecting. Stay tuned for official word.

Oasis’ first show in 16 years will be July 4 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
