HBO has pushed back the launch of its new “Game of Thrones” spin-off series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” from later this year to early 2026.

No official premiere date was ever actually set, but Warner Bros. Discovery compilation reels for 2025 content indicated the series aimed to originally air this year.

The pushed back date was revealed in a first look trailer shown during Warner Bros. Discovery’s upfront presentation to advertisers at Madison Square Garden in New York City today. HBO chief Casey Bloys added that the series is targeting a drop in the winter, so expect it VERY early in 2026.

HBO has also not yet announced a premiere window for the third season of its other ‘Thrones’ spin-off “House of the Dragon”. That run is currently in production.

“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is adapted from George R.R. Martin’s novella “The Hedge Knight” and will follow the exploits of the knight Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell).

Dunk and Egg’s journey will take them to a competition in which they encounter several members of the Targaryen dynasty. Events take place right in the middle of the 200 year gap between ‘Dragon’ and ‘Thrones’.
