The first trailer has arrived for the indie western film “Rust” starring Alec Baldwin plays the notorious outlaw Harland Rust.
Set in 1880s Kansas, the recently orphaned Lucas McCalister (Patrick Scott McDermott) accidentally kills a rancher and is sentenced to hang.
In a twist of fate, Harland Rust (Baldwin) breaks him out of jail and they go on the run towards Mexico. But the fugitive pair must outrun the determined U.S. Marshal Wood Helm (Josh Hopkins) and a ruthless bounty hunter named ‘Preacher’ (Travis Fimmel).
The clip marks the first footage released from the film which made global headlines in 2021 when an on-set tragedy claimed the life of director of photography Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.
A sprawling investigation and high-profile trials followed with Baldwin maintaining he didn’t pull the trigger on the gun when it was fired. In April 2023, Baldwin’s charges of involuntary manslaughter were dropped.
Falling Forward Films is handling the film’s limited theatrical release on May 2nd followed by a VOD release through Ascending Media Group.
