Fans have been floored to the shock ending to episode eight of Daredevil: Born Again, where the Marvel superhero takes a bullet for his sworn enemy.
In the latest story, titled Isle Of Joy, Matt Murdoch/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) confronts Dex, the criminal known as Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) in prison, believing he was the person hired by Wilson Fisk AKA Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) to hurt his friend Foggy (Elden Henson).
After a heated exchange Murdoch is goaded into attacking Dex, knocking out a took and giving the expert marksman a “bullet” to escape from prison. In the episode’s final moments, Murdoch attends a fundraiser held by Fisk, and senses that the now-escaped Dex has a sniper rifle pointed at his enemy.
Murdoch then throws himself in front of Fisk, taking the bullet and ending the episode mortally injured.
The shock move of Daredevil saving the life of the man he wanted dead has stunned some viewers, who pointed to an earlier moment in the show when Dex challenged Murdoch’s views by asking: “That’s what good men do, right? Defend their worst enemies”. While at the time the hero disagreed, many noted he had fulfilled that prophesy.
