‘Cthulhu Keeper’ Combines Lovecraft With Bullfrog’s Classic RTS ‘Dungeon Keeper’ [Trailer]

Developer Kuuasemais reaching back to a classic RTS for inspiration with their upcoming Lovecraftian real-time strategy game Cthulhu Keeper. If the name didn’t immediately set off something, then the trailer for Cthulhu Keeper definitely will, channelling Bullfrog’s cult classic RTS Dungeon Keeper with its look and gameplay.

Set in the 1920s, you assume the role of a cult leader looking to grow their influence by generating chaos and fear around you. In order to do that, you must build, defend, and expand your lair, summon Eldritch creatures, and orchestrate sinister missions.

As the description sounds, Cthulhu Keeper has the similar lair-building mechanic as its inspiration. Heck, the game even has a similar severed hand for a cursor (no word yet on if you can backhand your summoned creatures). You’ll start off by carving your lair from solid rock, setting out the halls and chambers, create dedicated rooms for rituals, and strategically place defenses to fend off intruders.

That doesn’t mean that its a carbon copy of Dungeon Keeper. You’ll be planning and executing missions in the outside world, from stealing artifacts to converting new followers. You’ll also be customizing your cult leader and monsters for each mission, equipping them with helpful items and powers. Also, you’ll be giving your cultists tasks like research, monster care, and setting traps.

As your lair grows, you’ll be drawing attention from rival cults, detectives, and the police. As a result, you’ll need to set traps and strategically place spells to defend your cult against invaders.

No release date has been set for Cthulhu Keeper, but you can add the game to your wishlist on Steam.
