Cap’n Jazz announce 2025 US reunion tour (BV presale for NYC)

Midwest emo pioneers Cap’n Jazz returned again this past fall for the first time in seven years to play Best Friends Forever Fest and a warm-up show beforehand, and they’re keeping the reunion going into 2025. They recently announced Primavera Sound and a London show, and now they’ve announced five US club shows for this July: Chicago, DC, Philly, Boston, and Brooklyn. Support on all dates comes from LA’s Coffin Prick, whose new album Loose Enchantment arrives on April 4 (and who Cap’n Jazz vocalist Tim Kinsella remixed last year).

The Brooklyn show happens on July 12 at Warsaw, and there’s a BrooklynVegan presale starting Thursday (2/20) at 10 AM for that one. PASSWORD = BVCNJ. Any remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday (2/21) at 10 AM. All dates are listed below.

Cap’n Jazz are also giving their sole album Burritos, Inspiration Point, Fork Balloon Sports, Cards in the Spokes, Automatic Biographies, Kites, Kung Fu, Trophies, Banana Peels We’ve Slipped on, and Egg Shells We’ve Tippy Toed Over (aka Shmap’n Shmazz) a remastered 30th anniversary reissue, marking its first time on vinyl since its initial 1995 release. We’ve got an exclusive ice blue vinyl variant available in the BV shop, limited to 500.

Tim Kinsella also recently auctioned off some rare Cap’n Jazz items (and more), including his original painting from the Shmap’n Shmazz album cover, which went for $23,433.
