Even though I am not and I will probably never be a camping kind of person, I understand the appeal that it holds for a lot of people. The idea of being out there in the middle of nature, communing with the earth while enjoying the company of others (or maybe yourself) has a certain kind of beauty to it. Sure there are the mosquitoes, the weather, and the inconvenience of not having a toilet to deal with, but if you can get past that, it can be a rewarding experience. Camping has evolved over the years though and now people also prefer having certain conveniences with them, like being able to enjoy music and videos while you’re out there in the wilds.

Camps is a concept for a camping device that is able to adjust to the idea of modern camping. It is a multi-functional device that can serve as a beam projector, a Bluetooth speaker, and also a lamp so you can enjoy your camping experience while still having your favorite pop culture things on hand. It may defeat the original idea of this activity being your communion with nature but in case you need a break from all the peace and quiet, at least you have an option for entertainment on hand.
Camp looks like a typical lamp that you bring along for lighting purposes. But aside from providing you with light in the darkness, it can also give you music and visuals that you can project on a surface. It uses both plastic and metal materials and comes with an electric bulb, a speaker grill and woofer for your audio needs, and a beam device to project your videos. It has knobs and bobs to adjust the various controls and has a non-slip base so you can place it on top of any surface. In theory, you can use an app on your phone to connect to the device to play your music or videos. Hopefully, there’s good enough Bluetooth signal where you’re camping. So there should also be an option to directly connect your device in case the connection isn’t so good.
Ultimately, the “Camps” concept highlights the ever-shifting definition of “roughing it.” While purists might scoff, the reality is that technology is interwoven into nearly every aspect of modern life, and camping is no exception. This device isn’t about replacing the natural experience, but rather augmenting it. It offers a bridge, allowing those who crave a touch of familiar comfort to venture into the wilderness without feeling completely cut off. Perhaps, as the stars twinkle and the campfire crackles, a shared movie under the vast canvas of the night sky creates a new kind of connection, a unique blend of nature and technology.
