‘Blood Moon Rise’ – Michael Giacchino Wrote a New ‘Werewolf by Night’ Comic for Marvel

It was Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino who sat in the director’s chair for Marvel’s Disney+ Halloween special Werewolf by Night back in 2022, and now Giacchino is headed into the comic book arena with Werewolf by Night: Blood Moon Rise for Marvel Comics.

The upcoming comic was previewed by Entertainment Weekly this morning, with the outlet revealing that Michael Giacchino’s comic is not actually connected to the aforementioned Werewolf by Night special he directed for Disney+. Rather, it’s set to be “a tale set during the original run of Jack Russell stories, which launched in Marvel Comics in 1972.”

He teases, “It could be a lost story from the original run, in a way. It’s Dracula who has tracked him down to exact some revenge from the last time that they were together in the comics.”

From writer Michael Giacchino and artist David Messina (Ultimate Spider-Man), Werewolf by Night: Blood Moon Rise will launch July 2025. Check out Issue #1 cover art below.
