Assassin’s Creed Shadows Massive PS5 Download Size Revealed

In just a few more days, players will finally experience a feudal Japan Assassin’s Creed game. Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches on PS5 on March 20. Players should be able to preload the game very soon, and will probably have to clear out some space on their hard drive due to the game’s massive download size.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows PS5 download size is bigger than 100 GB

According to X (formerly Twitter) account PlayStation Game Size, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is over 100 GB. Specifically, it’s a whopping 102.614 GB. The account states players can preload the game on March 18. Considering how big this download size is, players may want to download the game a bit early, especially those with a mediocre internet connection.

While this is an insanely large download size, this isn’t too surprising for an Assassin’s Creed game. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla takes up 97.56 GB, while Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is 82.030. So, there is an increased between Assassin’s Creed Shadows and the last entry, but it isn’t too large of a gap between the two.

It also isn’t too surprising as download sizes for “AAA” PS5 games nowadays are similar to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Games like Call of Duty: Warzone, NBA 2K25, and WWE 2K25 fall in a similar ballpark.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the next entry in the long-running Ubisoft franchise. Players will take on the role of both the shinobi Naoe and the samurai Yasuke as they explore feudal Japan, a time period requested by players since the first entry launched back in 2007.

“Live the intertwined stories of Naoe, an adept shinobi Assassin from Iga Province and Yasuke, the powerful African samurai of historical legend,” reads the game’s description “Against the backdrop of the turbulent late Sengoku period, this remarkable duo will discover their common destiny as they usher in a new era for Japan.”
