Hot on the heels of the Clown in the Cornfield red band trailer, HarperCollins has announced a movie tie-in edition of Adam Cesare‘s novel on which the film is based.
The 368-page paperback features new cover art with a fresh look at the cinematic interpretation of Frendo the clown.
Publishing on April 1, you’ll have time to read it before the movie hits theaters on May 9 from RLJE Films.
In the book, “Quinn Maybrook and her father have moved to tiny, boring Kettle Springs, to find a fresh start. But what they don’t know is that ever since the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory shut down, Kettle Springs has cracked in half.
“On one side are the adults, who are desperate to make Kettle Springs great again, and on the other are the kids, who want to have fun, make prank videos, and get out of Kettle Springs as quick as they can.
“Kettle Springs is caught in a battle between old and new, tradition and progress. It’s a fight that looks like it will destroy the town. Until Frendo, the Baypen mascot, a creepy clown in a pork-pie hat, goes homicidal and decides that the only way for Kettle Springs to grow back is to cull the rotten crop of kids who live there now.”
The Bram Stoker Award–winning slasher novel was originally released in 2020, followed by Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives in 2022 and Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo in 2024.
Cesare confirms a fourth novel is in the works.
Produced by Temple Hill Entertainment (Smile, Twilight), the adaptation is directed by Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs Evil) from a script he co-wrote with Carter Blanchard.
Katie Douglas (“Ginny & Georgia”), Carson MacCormac (Shazam!), Aaron Abrams (“Hannibal”), Will Sasso (“Mad TV”), and Kevin Durand (Abigail) star.
