Trailer for Jersey Drama 'Ponyboi' Feat. Dylan O'Brien & River Gallo

Tideline has revealed an official trailer for an indie drama titled Ponyboi, the second feature film from director Esteban Arango following his debut Blast Beat a few years ago. This initially premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival last year, and played at the Torino Film Festival (where it won Best Performance) and BFI Flare in London. Unfolding over the course of Valentine’s Day in New Jersey, a young intersex sex worker must run from the mob after a drug deal goes sideways, forcing him to confront his past. The film stars Dylan O’Brien, River Gallo as Ponyboi (who also wrote the screenplay), Murray Bartlett, Victoria Pedretti, and Indya Moor. "The road to making Ponyboi has been as long as the New Jersey Turnpike - the backdrop of the film and a meaningful location in my childhood landscape," Gallo states. It received mixed reviews from Sundance: "With Ponyboi, Gallo has taken a familiar genre and enlivened it with a story both groundbreaking & deeply personal." Get a look.
