Much in-demand actress Sydney Sweeney (“Euphoria,” “Anyone But You”) is set to both executive produce and star in a film adaptation of Hazelight Studios’ 2025 hit video game “Split Fiction”.
In addition, “Wicked” director Jon M. Chu is slated to direct the project, which is currently being written by “Deadpool & Wolverine” screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
The game blends fantasy and science fiction and follows a pair of authors trapped in the worlds they wrote by an unscrupulous publisher using a new kind of technology. It has yet to be decided which lead role Sweeney will be playing – Zoe or Mio.
Like their past works such as the Game of the Year-winning “It Takes Two,” “Split Fiction” can only be played with two people and the gameplay mechanics involve split-screen combat and platforming challenges with both players needing to work together to make it work.
The title sold one million copies in 24 hours and more than two million copies in the first week. Mike Goldberg and Dmitri M. Johnson will produce the film adaptation.
A bidding war broke out for the project back in March.
