Speed guitarist names his 5 favorite hardcore albums
Being in an environment where they have the chance to introduce some new people to hardcore, Speed’s Josh Clayton named his 5 textbooks.

We caught up with Australian hardcore band Speed backstage at Coachella before they took the stage for a riotous set in the indoor Sonora tent on Friday night, and, being in an environment where Speed have the chance to introduce some new people to hardcore, guitarist Josh Clayton took the time to name his five favorite hardcore albums.
“The textbooks for me,” he said, “would be Madball – Set It Off, Hatebreed – Satisfaction [Is the Death of Desire], Bad Brains self-titled, Cro-Mags – Age of Quarrel… last one would be… fuck it, any of the Trapped Under Ice LPs.”
Vocalist Jem Siow added “100%” after Josh finished his list, and went on to name some key Australian hardcore labels for anyone who wants to learn more about Speed’s scene, including Last Ride Records, Burning Hammer Records, New Ethic, Reason and Rage, and Life.Lair.Regret.
Speed also shed some light on their not-yet-announced sophomore album. Watch clips of our interview for more below, and catch Speed at Coachella again this Friday (4/18). After that, they’ll tour with Whispers, including a show at NJ’s Black Box on May 28.
