Salma Hayek has said that working with Samuel L Jackson led to her compulsively swearing in her everyday life.
The actor is a Hollywood veteran, having made her name in the 1990s with films such as Desperado and From Dusk Til Dawn; to making ground-breaking dramas in the 2000s such as her biopic of Frida Kahlo, and Oscar winner Traffic. In recent years, she’s appeared in Marvel blockbuster Eternals and animated hit Puss In Boots.
During an interview with Marie Claire, the star talked about her fondness for swearing, and revealed the Avengers actor was an influence after starring together in 2017’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard its 2021 sequel. “I have the best teacher: Samuel L. Jackson,” she says. “He’s (played) my husband—twice.”
She revealed that after playing Sonia Kincaid, the foul-mouthed wife of Jackson’s hitman, it was difficult to shake off the four-letter words after she finished filming. “After those movies my vocabulary changed. I (couldn’t) get rid of Sonia. My husband was like, ‘How long is she going to stay?’ I said, ‘I don’t fucking know. Who the fuck cares. What’s your fucking hurry?’”
Hayek is currently filming action-comedy Sacrifice, co-starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Evans, telling the story of a film star who attempts a comeback by becoming involved with a cult. Behind the scenes, she is also working as executive producer on the HBO show Like Water For Chocolate.
After more than 35 years in showbusiness, however, she later revealed in the interview has no plans for retirement. “My brain, it’s a machine gun of ideas” she explained. “I have too many. I’m super creative. So that will never stop”.
Recently, Salma Hayek joined Madonna on stage as a special guest judge for the ‘Vogue’ portion of her concert in Mexico.
