Review: Jada Toys Metalfigs and STREET FIGHTER II Figures

Jada Toys recently released some new figures that looked really cool. First, I’ll talk about some Scooby-Doo Metalfigs which have an MSRP of $4.99 each. Then, I’ll talk about some recent Street Fighter II figures (1:12 scale) which have an MSRP of $25-30 each. You can find them at your favorite toy retailers. The team was kind enough to send me samples for these figures, but all thoughts below are my own.First, let’s talk about the Scooby-Doo figures. You can get the whole gang and they’re really cool. The metal figures are weighty and solid with fantastic paint jobs. I was sent a box that looked like the Mystery Machine (an added bonus!) that included all five characters. I personally really like the metallic paint used for most of the clothes although it is a little odd that Scooby is also metallic when everyone else’s hair is a matte paint. Another feature I actually like is that the arms and heads appear to not be metal for the four human characters. It just seems like a nice detail and way to maintain a good skin tone. It’s important to note that these figures have no articulation and are really best served as decorative statues. Think cubicle or desk ornament. In my opinion it is definitely worth the $5 each. I was extra pumped because Cammy is one of my favorite characters to play as in the franchise. First, the packaging is very fun as it is designed to resemble an arcade cabinet. Then, the figures themselves just look really cool. For this article, I broke out Guile so I could better examine the figure and overall I would say it’s really good and definitely fits in the given price range. There are a ton of points of articulation including the neck, torso, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, hip, knee, ankle, and thigh. Some of the joints were a little tight and the ankle joint was probably the hardest one to actually position okay. I did notice some imperfections on one of the arms, but from what I can tell, this is more the exception than the rule. I will say that the actual detailing on the figure is very well done. The different textures for different materials, the paint job, all of that was really well done. It honestly makes me wish Jada had the toy license for Power Rangers at the moment. Of course, like any good collectible figure, each character also comes with some accessories and I like them. For Guile, you get a comb, a necklace with his dog tags, two additional hands, an additional head with gritting teeth, and a special effect that comes with a stand for you to adjust. It’s another level of deta

First, let’s talk about the Scooby-Doo figures.

Now let’s talk about Street Fighter II. I was sent figures for Cammy White, Dee Jay, and Guile.

It’s another level of detail knowing which accessories to include and I didn’t catch the comb at first, but when I did, I instantly remembered why he would have that (one of his victory poses has him whip out a comb and touch up his hair).

At the end of the day, I think these Street Fighter II figures are fantastic and definitely worth grabbing for fans of the franchise. The price definitely seems fair, so it’s all about making sure that they have a figure for your favorite characters.
