Netflix’s R.L. Stine-based Fear Street slasher franchise is back in less than a month with new movie Fear Street: Prom Queen, which is set to begin streaming on May 23, 2025.
Our friends over at Fangoria have debuted a brand new official poster for Fear Street: Prom Queen this morning, along with two exclusive stills you can see only on Fangoria.
Chatting with Fangoria for the piece, director Matt Palmer (Calibre) reveals that Fear Street: Prom Queen is set in 1988, telling a standalone story unconnected to the three Netflix Fear Street movies that were directed by Leigh Janiak back in 2021.
Palmer teases, “My guess would be that this one won’t be the end of the trilogies, but it also won’t be the end of standalone films, and they’ll all weave together in really interesting ways.”
In the upcoming horror movie, “Welcome back to Shadyside. In this next installment of the blood-soaked Fear Street franchise, prom season at Shadyside High is underway, and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.”
The ensemble cast includes India Fowler (The Nevers, Insomnia), Suzanna Son (Red Rocket, The Idol), Fina Strazza (Paper Girls, Above the Shadows), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty, Cinnamon), Ella Rubin (The Idea of You), Chris Klein (American Pie), with Lili Taylor (Outer Range) and Katherine Waterston (The End We Start From).
Ariana Greenblatt, Darrin Baker, Rebecca Ablack, Ilan O’Driscoll, Damian Romeo, Dakota Taylor, Eden Summer Gilmore, Brennan Clost, and Cecilia Lee also star.
Matt Palmer & Donald McLeary wrote the screenplay, based on R.L. Stine’s book.
