It has been more than two weeks since British Airways ended its Executive Club program and introduced the “new” and supposedly “enhanced” (read: devalued) version called The Club.
I took my final two flights required for lifetime BA Gold (Oneworld Emerald) on March 31st, just before the changes took effect, and there was a problem with the credit for the partner flights operated by Finnair, and the ISSUES CONTINUE.
You can access BA here.
The British Airways flight I took on March 31st was posted correctly, reflecting the new lifetime Tier Points conversion.
However, the Finnair flight I took before the BA flight did not post correctly; it appeared with nearly 19,000 new Tier Points—far more than it should have.
Bizarre British Airways Tier Points Postings Since April 1st?
A couple of days later, British Airways added a new line to my account statement that canceled the Finnair credit instead of nullifying this erroneous transaction.
British Airways Removes Partner Airline Avios & Tier Points With No Notice?
Then British Airways correctly posted the flight with the right amount of Avios and with the conversion of old Tier Points to the new ones.
British Airways Posts, Removes & Corrects Finnair Flight Credit?
Well. I thought that this would be the end of this Finnair flight saga, but alas, that was not the case. Now, there is another post that has appeared for this very same flight:
Now, the flight has been posted with the correct Avios (again) and with a mysterious number of new Tier Points (565).
The mysterious new Tier Points have also been added to the Total Tier Points for 2025 and to the new lifetime tally (which doesn’t help me, as I will never qualify for the lifetime Gold Guest List).
Conclusion
I don’t doubt that BA will eventually remove the few thousand Avios and 565 Tier Points that were added to my account in error, and I have no issues with that. I just wish that they wouldn’t touch the CORRECTLY posted ones.
There must be members who have not had their flight(s) credited at all or with the wrong amount of Avios and new Tier Points, and I wish that BA deals with those expediently.
