Birmingham Airport opens tender to elevate dining experience with three airside spaces
The spaces cover 165sq m, 402sq m and 363sq m, with the successful bidder expected to offer a mix of international cuisines in a combination of grab and go and casual-dining units.

UK. Birmingham Airport has launched a Request For Proposals (RFP) for three substantial food & beverage spaces in its airside commercial concourse, to open during 2026. The airport is expanding the dining offer as it gears up for significant passenger growth.
The spaces cover 165sq m, 402sq m and 363sq m, with the successful bidder expected to offer a mix of international cuisines in a combination of grab and go and casual-dining units. There is potential for the units to be split for more than one use to maximise the space potential.
The airport company told The Moodie Davitt Report: “The bids could cover a wide variety of outlet types and cuisines, such as an artisan bakery, café, Asian, Middle East, Italian, Mexican or a mixed offering in one location.
“It is important that the offer provides something for everyone with a variety of menus which are full of flavour, healthy, vegetarian, free-from and halal options, as well as showing genuine responsibility for the environment and sustainability.
“We are continually looking for eye-catching designs which clearly communicate the offer and consider the passenger within its operational layout, integrating digital technology where relevant to enhance both speed of service and the customer experience.”
Birmingham Airport served 12.8 million passengers last year and projects the number to reach 18 million by 2033.
Commercial Director Richard Gill said, “We are interested in hearing from existing or new commercial partners to tender for our proposed new catering outlets that will be located within the departure lounge here at Birmingham Airport.
“This new commercial airside space will be the only area within the departure lounge to benefit from views across the runway and has natural daylight.
“These new tendered outlets are within our development plans and set to open in 2026 to ensure we cater for our customers’ needs as we future-proof our departure lounge for the projected sharp rise in passengers.”
