“Bad Boys for Life” filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (aka. Adil & Bilall) have signed to direct a feature film adaptation of Ubisoft’s award-winning extreme sports video game “Riders Republic”.

Gaumont and Ubisoft Film & Television are developing the project which is being launched at the Cannes film market. In addition, award-winning writer Noé Debré (“Dheepan,” “Stillwater”) is penning the adaptation’s screenplay.

The massively multiplayer sports game boasts more than ten million players worldwide and received generally positive reviews upon release in late 2021.

The game is set across a vast open world, mashing together multiple Western U.S. locations like Yosemite Valley, Sequoia Park, Bryce Canyon and Mammoth Mountain.

Players can participate in four main extreme sports activities – mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding and wingsuit flying. Up to 64 players can compete against each other in Mass Races competitions.

The film aims to capture the gam’es action, humor and wild stunts but the setting this time will be the snow-covered slopes of the Alps.

Adil & Bilall most recently helmed last year’s “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” and directed the shelved “Batgirl” film at Warner Bros. Discovery.
