CBS is considering expanding the world of “Yellowstone,” according to a report from Puck. The network is eyeing a procedural that will star Luke Grimes, who previously starred in the Paramount Network hit as Beth’s brother Kayce. Little else is known about the potential series.

CBS declined to comment on this story.

This isn’t entirely unexpected. Though “Yellowstone” is a Paramount Network original, CBS experimented with airing network-edited versions of the cable drama to offset its lack of new original programming during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Nearly 22 million viewers tuned in to CBS to watch at least one episode of the Taylor Sheridan drama in 2023 alone.

If this upcoming drama were to happen, this new show would be the latest “Yellowstone” spinoff Paramount has announced. Last December, the company announced that it was moving ahead on a show that would center around Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton and Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler. This is in addition to the three previously announced and upcoming spinoffs set in the world of “Yellowstone” — “The Madison,” which follows Michelle Pfeiffer’s Stacy Clyburn as she moves her family from New York City to Montana; “6666,” which will presumably focus on the Four Sixes Ranch; and “1944,” which will be the third “Yellowstone” prequel to date. “1883” previously premiered in 2021, and “1923” is currently airing its second season.

Kayce was instrumental to the series finale of “Yellowstone.” After the death of his father John Dutton (Kevin Costner), Kayce was put in charge of the ranch. He was the one who arranged for it to be sold to Chief Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), intentionally accepting a price so low that Rainwater wouldn’t have to pay hefty taxes on the property. After seasons of hand-wringing over who this land really belonged to, Kayce returned it to the Indigenous people, thereby cementing his father’s legacy. In the finale, he cries tears of joy over the sale.
