Rapper Tay-K (real name Taymor McIntyre) has been convicted of murder for the second time.
The artist, best known for his song ‘The Race’, is accused of murdering Mark Anthony Saldivar in April 2017. The 23-year-old photographer was reportedly killed as McIntyre was on the run from house arrest.
According to News 4 San Antonio, the jury found McIntyre guilty of murder; they did not find him guilty of capital murder. He is expected to face between five and 99 years in prison.
McIntyre has previously been convicted of murder in 2019. He is currently serving 55 years in prison for being an accessory to the murder of 21-year-old Ethan Walker. Latharian Merritt, the man accused of shooting Walker, was sentenced to life in prison in 2018.
The incident occurred in 2016 during a botched home invasion and robbery which McIntyre participated in Tarrant County, Texas. McIntyre was apprehended after the robbery, placed on house arrest, and ordered to wear an ankle monitor.
He is best known for his 2-17 song ‘The Race’, which McIntyre recorded whilst on the run from authorities. The rapper was once again apprehended in New Jersey on the same night he released the video for the aforementioned single on June 30, 2017.
McIntyre was eventually sentenced to 30 years in prison and a $5,000 fine on one count of aggravated robbery, and 13 years in prison and a $3,000 fine for the remaining two counts of aggravated robbery in relation to the home invasion. The sentences will run concurrently, and the rapper must serve at least half of his sentence before be can become eligible for parole.
