The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (Górnośląskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze S.A. –  GTL S.A.) – the company managing Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport in Pyrzowice, Poland – has summarized passenger traffic for the third month and first quarter of 2025.

In March 2025, air carriers handled 376 898 passengers as part of Katowice Airport’s network of regular and charter flights, i.e. 63 070 more (+20.1%) than last year. It was the best third month in the history of the airport; the result from 2024 (313 828) was surpassed. On 24 March (Monday), the one-millionth passenger was handled in 2025. Never before have so many passengers been handled so quickly; the previous record for 1 million travellers was noted on the night of 8 April 2024.

Last month, Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines and Air Dolomiti/Lufthansa carried 234 914 passengers on scheduled flights to/from Katowice Airport, i.e. 21 413 more (+10.0%) than in March 2024. During the third month of 2025, 141 217 passengers travelled on charter flights, i.e. 42 646 more (+43.3%) than last year.

In March 2025, Katowice Airport saw 3 109 aircraft takeoffs and landings, i.e. 173 more (+5.9%) than in the third month of 2024.

With March, the first quarter of 2025 came to an end. During that time, Katowice Airport handled 1 090 189 passengers, i.e. 164 980 more (+17.8%) than last year. During the first three months of 2025, 657 556 passengers were noted on scheduled flights, i.e. 28 883 more (+4.6%) than last year, while 415 438 travellers flew on charter flights, i.e. 122 329 more (+41.7%) than in 2024. Between January and the end of March 2025, passengers most often travelled from Katowice Airport on regular flights to Dortmund (97.4 thousand passengers), London-Luton (63.1 thousand), London-Stansted (53.0 thousand), Malta (39.5 thousand) and Athens (33.8 thousand). When it comes to charter flights, passengers most often flew from Katowice Airport to Marsa Alam (91.9 thousand travellers), Hurghada (87.9 thousand), Sharm El Sheikh (31.3 thousand), Antalya (22.9 thousand) and Fuerteventura (13.4 thousand).

By the end of March 2025, 8 872 takeoffs and landings were noted at Katowice Airport, i.e. 656 more (+8.0%) than in 2024.

“Record-breaking results for the first quarter of the year confirm that 2025 will be the best year in the history of the airport when it comes to passenger traffic. The peak of traffic will be, as usually, in July and August. We will handle more than 900 thousand passengers in each of these months. We will welcome the seven-millionth passenger in a single calendar year at Katowice Airport in December,” said Artur Tomasik, the President of the Board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group.

Katowice Airport is among the biggest regional airports in Poland. 6.39 million travellers flew via its network of flights in 2024. The forecast for 2025 estimates that 7 million passengers will be handled, the most in the history of Katowice Airport. Katowice Wojciech Korfanty Airport is the country leader in the area of charter traffic, and one of the biggest cargo airports in Poland.
