Lovecraftian City-Builder ‘Worshippers of Cthulhu’ Leaves Early Access May 22 [Trailer]

After its launch into Early Access on Steam back in October 2024, developer Crazy Goat Games has announced that Worshippers of Cthulhu will be exiting Early Access and launching in full on May 22. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer, as well as new details on the final update prior to the full launch.

The final Early Access update, The Call of the New Lands, adds a new sandbox map in The Echoing Shores, new Cultist specializations, and new tools to help your cult rule across the archipelago more efficiently. The new sandbox map offers up new challenges, unique modifiers, and special missions ripe for strategic experimentation. In addition, Cultists with Horror specializations can now enhance their summoned monsters, while others with Flexible specializations allow them to perform efficiently in any building.

The UI will also see a revamp, allowing you to streamline the transfer of followers between locations, and new filtering options allow players to sort, select, and assign cultists more efficiently.

Lastly, once Worshippers of Cthulhu exits Early Access, players will receive two additional chapters that bring their share of new environments and challenges, new visual upgrades and more. The team also teases additional post-launch content, but that’s for another day.

In Worshippers of Cthulhu, your journey begins by establishing and managing cities across multiple islands. Efficient resource management and strategic decisions are key. Perform dark rituals to gain supernatural powers and explore mysterious lands for hidden resources. Conquer territories while deciding the fate of non-believers, either by converting them or (as mentioned) sacrificing them to Cthulhu. You will have to balance Cthulhu’s patience with your cult’s fanaticism to ensure survival and dominance in a constantly evolving environment.

In addition to a launch on Steam, Worshippers of Cthulhu will see future releases on PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series.
