‘Game Of Thrones’ fans aren’t impressed with new video game: “Pathetic”

Game Of Thrones: Kingsroad has launched in Early Access, but fans aren’t impressed with the new video game.
Kingsroad is an open-world “blockbuster story-driven action-adventure RPG” that sees players trying to restore their house’s legacy while the rest of Westeros deals with The War Of The Five Kings.
“Solidify your political position, navigate the complex power struggles between the noble houses of Westeros, and seek out what allies you can, all while aiding the Night’s Watch in their preparations for the final confrontation with the White Walkers and their army of the dead that awaits just beyond the Wall,” the description reads. Developers also promised to “bring the world of Westeros to life with remarkable detail and never-before seen scale.”
The game was announced last year with a trailer featuring Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow. A number of other familiar faces, including Varys, Jaime and Cersei Lannister, will also appear in the game, however none of the actors from the HBO series have returned.
Game Of Thrones: Kingsroad will eventually be a free-to-play game but fans have been able to pay to play early. “Much of Westeros will be available to explore during the Early Access phase. Players are able to visit the major cities such as Winterfell, King’s Landing and Highgarden and visit the surrounding areas. The Early Access version contains 50 chapters of the main storyline, hundreds of side missions and open world encounters, multiple Co-op dungeons, and endgame PVE challenges,” explains the Steam listing.
The PC Early Access window went live yesterday (March 26) but the reviews are mixed. “As a long time Game Of Thrones fan, my disappointment knows no bounds,” wrote one player, with others complaining about the amount of microtransactions featured in the game.
Others are frustrated developers haven’t made any real changes between the PC and mobile versions of the title. “This is disappointingly a mobile game ported to PC that turned out to be The Witcher from Temu. Just like Jon Snow, these devs know nothing,” reads another scathing review.
Other players are more positive. “The fact that I can ride a horse from the Wall in the North all the way down to the far South of Westeros without a single loading screen completely sold me on this game. On top of that, I’m blown away by how accurately they recreated the locations — Castle Black and Winterfell are literally 1:1 copies from the show,” wrote one player on Reddit.
“[But] imagine a Game Of Thrones RPG on the same level of Hogwarts Legacy. THAT is what we need,” said another.
Westeros is vast, with long buried secrets and legendary creatures. Face incredible foes as you carve your path through the Seven Kingdoms. The fate of Westeros is in your hands. Will you rise to the challenge?

A full release date for Game Of Thrones: Kingsroad hasn’t been announced yet, with developers promising at least four weeks of Early Access.
Last year also saw the release of Game Of Thrones puzzle game Legends. Earlier this year, author George R.R. Martin said he might skip working on the adaptation of Elden Ring so he can focus on finishing the Game Of Thrones books. He went on to say Winds Of Winter was coming together “pretty well” after it was originally set for release in 2015.
In other news, controversial footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been announced as the latest fighter to join the roster of the new Fatal Fury game.
