As the hosts of Fox News’ “The Five” were discussing the news Monday that Trump administration officials accidentally shared sensitive military plans with The Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, the panel show’s resident Democrat had a pithy reaction.

“I don’t ever want to hear ‘but her emails’ again,” Tarlov said, referring to the Hillary Clinton email server scandal. See the moment below:

For those catching up, on Monday Goldberg detailed in a bombshell article how at the beginning of March he was accidentally added to a group chat, on the encrypted messaging app Signal, whose members included several high ranking Trump officials. Among them were Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Vice President JD Vance among others; Goldberg said he was added by National Security Advisor Michael Waltz.

Apparently unaware Goldberg had been added, he said the group freely discussed what turned out to be plans for the March 15 bombing of Houthi rebels in Yemen. (Hegseth has since specifically denied that war plans were discussed.)

About this, Tarlov said it exemplifies “this administration’s incompetence and recklessness on a scale unimaginable,” and noted that the group wasn’t having this discussion in a SCIF — a Sensitive compartmented information facility where sensitive secrets are normally discussed — “they’re doing it on an app that you and I, we all have on our phones.”

“And it’s obviously incredibly reckless. National security risks. I don’t ever want to hear ‘but her emails’ again,” she added.

In case you forgot, this refers to “but her emails,” a meme inspired by the aforementioned scandal over Clinton’s use of a private email server when she was Secretary of State. To be clear, “but her emails” isn’t a direct quote from any of Clinton’s critics, it’s actually a sarcastic reference to the matter by Clinton supporters angry about the role the scandal played in her 2016 election loss.

Usually, the phrase “but her emails” is said in contrast to something Donald Trump did or said that is in their view far worse. Presumably, Tarlov, a longtime Democratic consultant, meant she never wanted to hear about the scandal itself again.

Immediately after her comment, Tarlov and “The Five” co-host Jesse Watters got into a brief argument after he dismissed the issue as “they accidentally leaked something to the media.”

When Tarlov pushed back on this, noting “they didn’t leak it. They invited him in,” Watters responded by, wait for it, mentioning the Clinton email server scandal.
