Fans are loving Elon Musk getting owned by ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ X account

The official X account of Assassin’s Creed has hit back at Elon Musk, and fans are loving the drama.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows had an absolutely huge launch last week and received a number of glowing reviews, giving it a “generally favourable” score of 81 out of 100 on review aggregate site Metacritic.
However some people have had issues with the game. The Japanese government was originally concerned the destruction of in-game temples could result in physical world vandalism but a Day One patch seems to have calmed those worries.
Other fans have taken to social media to complain about the Japanese-set Assassin’s Creed Shadows featuring a character inspired by “The Black Samurai”, while others have taken offence to the inclusion of trans characters and the ability to take part in queer romance storylines.
It’s perhaps why Elon Musk took to X to have a pop at Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Earlier this week, left-wing streamer HasanAbi took to Bluesky to share an ad for the game. Sharing a screenshot of the message, former World Of Warcraft developer and Gamergate supporter Mark Kern wrote: “You can tell a lot about Ubisoft with how much money they’re throwing at terrorist-platforming streamers.”
“Hasan is a fraud,” replied Musk. “’Sell-out’ would be more accurate,” he added. “Objectively, he is promoting a terrible game just for the money.”
Is that what the guy playing your Path of Exile 2 account told you?

The official Assassin’s Creed X account then replied: “Is that what the guy playing your Path of Exile 2 account told you?”
Earlier this year, Musk admitted that he’d paid other people to level up his Path Of Exile 2 characters after previously boasting about his skills as a gamer.

The spicy reply has racked up more than 30million views and been shared more than 59,000 times, while Musk’s tweet has only been shared 864 times.
“44 billion dollars to get cooked on your own website,” wrote one fan. “I’m about to play Assassin’s Creed for the first time and it’s because of this tweet,” said another. “Imagine being the richest guy on earth and getting your ass handed to you by an Ubisoft brand account,” wrote a third.
Assassin’s Creed’s X account later reshared the brutal reply alongside a quote from the game. “Where other men blindly follow the truth… Remember, nothing is true.”
While Musk has been very busy on social media since, he hasn’t replied to either of the tweets from the Assassin’s Creed account.
In other news, Nintendo has confirmed a surprise Direct will take place tomorrow (March 27) and give fans an update on games for the original Switch.
