Another upcoming AAA game has seemingly been confirmed as a PS6, PS5 cross-gen title by its publisher. Square Enix was the first publisher to reveal that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 will be a cross-gen title. Now, a Warner Bros. job ad suggests that Rocksteady Studios’ unannounced game will launch on next-gen platforms as well.
Rocksteady’s PS6, PS5 game is rumored to be a Batman title
The job ad in question is for a Senior Core Engine Programmer at Rocksteady Studios. WB specifically mentions that the position holder will be working to “deliver the highest
quality game experience on our target hardware, including high-end PC, PS5,
Xbox Series X/S and the next generation of consoles.”
It has long been rumored that Rocksteady is returning to the Batman series following its high-profile flop Suicide Squad. Known journalist Jason Schreier reported back in February that the single-player Batman game “is years away from landing.” That the job ad mentions next-gen consoles lends some credence to this claim.
Interestingly, the ad boasts Rocksteady’s status as a “one-project studio” that found success in making “character-driven cinematic narrative” games. This suggests that Rocksteady is only working on one game at the moment, and what WB is recruiting for is indeed the rumored Batman game rather than a different project.
The following games are now all but confirmed for the PS6 as of March 27, 2025:
- Hideo Kojima’s Physint
- Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3
- The Witcher 4
- Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
- Rocksteady Studios’ upcoming game, possibly Batman
