Pedro Pascal has called J.K. Rowling a “heinous loser” after she celebrated the Supreme Court ruling that transgender women are not legally women under the Equality Act.
The actor, who has been an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and has a transgender sister, Lux, left the comment under an Instagram post from Tariq Ra’ouf in which the activist called on his followers to boycott Harry Potter projects.
“Don’t watch the show. Don’t go to Universal. Don’t buy a single Harry Potter thing ever. It’s time to tell these corporations that transphobia loses money,” Ra’ouf wrote in the caption, adding in the video, “It has become our mission as the general public to make sure that every single thing that’s Harry Potter related fails … because that awful disgusting shit, that has consequences.”
Pascal liked the post and wrote, “Awful disgusting SHIT is exactly right. Heinous LOSER behaviour.”

After five judges ruled that the terms ‘woman’ and ‘sex’ in the Equality Act refer to a biological woman and biological sex last week, Rowling shared a photo of herself smoking a cigar from her superyacht with the caption, “I love it when a plan comes together.”
The court sided with For Women Scotland, a campaign group which brought a case against the Scottish government in which they argued that sex-based protections should only apply to those born female.
Following the ruling, Rowling wrote on X (Twitter), “It took three extraordinary, tenacious Scottish women with an army behind them to get this case heard by the Supreme Court and, in winning, they’ve protected the rights of women and girls across the UK,” adding, “For Women Scotland, I’m so proud to know you.”
In February, meanwhile, Pascal shared the quote, “A world without trans people has never existed and never will,” on Instagram, dividing his followers. After some threatened to unfollow him, he reiterated his stance, writing, “I can’t think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist.”
On Tuesday (April 22), he sported a T-shirt reading “PROTECT THE DOLLS” at the UK premiere of Marvel’s Thunderbolts – one he previously wore at his 50th birthday party. The shirt is part of a pro-trans campaign by American designer Conner Ives, and Troye Sivan, Addison Rae and Tate McRae have also been pictured wearing it.
Lux has previously said of her brother’s support, via NBC News, “He has been an important part of this. He is also an artist and has been a guide. He was one of the first to give me the things that formed my identity.”
Pascal currently stars in The Last Of Us alongside Bella Ramsey. Season two premiered on HBO on April 13, and episodes are coming out weekly until May 25. In a four-star review, NME‘s Nick Levine wrote: “At its best, The Last Of Us is unsettling enough to make you question your own hypothetical moral code. When every day is about survival and making sense of post-apocalyptic chaos, does taking a life become easier, or somehow even harder? This show doesn’t just go deep narratively – it also cuts deep emotionally.”
