General Ackbar Is Back! AHSOKA Season 2 Pits the STAR WARS Icon Against Grand Admiral Thrawn
It’s not a trap, it’s a comeback.Dave Filoni just dropped the news at the Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration that General Ackbar is returning in Ahsoka Season 2, and he’s going toe-to-toe with none other than Grand Admiral Thrawn. One of Star Wars’ most beloved tacticians is about to square off with the Empire’s most dangerous strategist. Filoni teased at the event: “He's going to go head to head with Thrawn,” and it’s hard not to read that as a promise of an epic space battle that could rival anything we’ve seen in the franchise so far.During the panel, it was also revealed that Hayden Christensen would return at the ghostly version of Anakin Skywalker. The series is expected to start shooting next week.Season 1 left us with some major cliffhangers with Ahsoka and Sabine are still marooned on Peridea, Anakin’s Force ghost is watching from the sidelines, and Baylan Skoll is knee-deep in investigating those towering Mortis god statues and whatever secrets the World Between Worlds might be hiding. According to Filoni, “It's a big mystery. The Son's there, the Father's there, most of the Daughter's there. So yeah, we'll figure it out. It's a good story.”I’m excited that the Rebel leader Ackbar will be a bigger player in the story for Season 2 with the battle against Thrawn. There’s some potential here to do some incredibly cool things. But, what I’m pumped about is the high-stakes naval-style space battle that Ackbar and Thrawn will engage in!
