Lufthansa has today launched a status match offer for ITA Airways Volare members, valid for sign-ups through June 10, 2025.
Eligible Volare members can link their account to Miles&More within the membership console, and their status is then automatically matched according to the table below.
You can access ITA Airways here.
What makes this interesting is that the match is based on the Qualifying Points that you had in your Volare account on January 31, 2025.
Status Match Matrix:
- The Volare Member with Qualifying Points between 30.000 and 59.999 as of 31 January 2025 will be converted into a Frequent Traveller
- The Volare Member with Qualifications Points between 60.000 and 89.999 as of 31 January 2025 will be converted into a Senator
- The Volare Member with Qualifications Points above 90.000 as of 31 January 2025 shall be converted into a Senator
The information between the Volare and Miles&More accounts must match. If the Volare member is not a Miles&More member, they can sign up for Lufthansa’s program before.
ITA Airways Volare is not matching Miles&More members, as the program is eventually being phased out and will be merged into the group-wide one.
The match doesn’t merge accounts, but the member can then decide whether to use ITA’s Volare or Lufthansa Group’s Miles&More for future flights.
Conclusion
This is a clever way for Lufthansa and Miles&More to ensure that those Volare members who got their status through easy ITA status matches, which we have covered in detail, won’t suddenly get Star Alliance status.
It’s interesting to see how the tiers are matched when the Volare program is fully integrated into the Miles&More program.
Do they then look at the accrued status points or just the tier itself? Only time will tell.
