Today’s Nintendo Direct was full of surprises for Switch players. However, the showcase also unexpectedly revealed a duo of PlayStation first-party games coming to Nintendo’s portable hybrid thanks to a licensing deal between Sony and Bandai Namco.

Sony PlayStation cult classics Patapon and Everybody’s Golf go multiplatform

The first is Patapon 1+2 Replay, a remaster of the beloved PSP games from Japan Studio. The title includes the first two games from 2007 and 2008 respectively, as well as new updates to make each game more accessible and enjoyable. The bundle launches for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 11.

“Having lived in the desolate frontier for years, the Patapon tribe was driven from their home by the Zigoton army,” reads the game’s description. “This drove them to become fierce warrior spirits that can only be commanded by the beat of the war drum, played by the Mighty One (the player). Their wait has finally come to an end as the drums of war are heard once again by the Mighty One return to guide the Patapon tribe through their adventures to fight against challenging enemies and return them to their homeland.”

The second is a brand-new entry in the Everybody’s Golf series, titled Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots. Although a specific date was not revealed, Clap Hanz’s next entry will launch on PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime this year.

“Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots will bring back the classic gameplay that everybody loves. The three-button shot mechanic will let anyone jump in and get that perfect shot, easy to learn yet challenging to master,” reads the game’s description. “The game will offer Solo Rounds, where players can work to beat their personal records, and a Challenge Mode, with tournaments to climb against challenging competitors. The Multiplayer Mode will allow the creation of friendly competitions for up to four players, locally or online. Finally, the new tee-rific Wacky Golf mode will spice things up with crazy rules and events, for a whole new fun way to play golf!”

This is not the first time Bandai Namco and Sony have partnered to bring a first-party game to other platforms. The most recent example of this is Freedom Wars Remastered, which launched for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam earlier this year.

This means Bandai Namco plans to release three Sony first-party games within a calendar year. What other PlayStation classics does the publisher have in store? We’ll just have to wait and see.
