Set Photos: Tom Holland Films “The Odyssey”

Several weeks after production began, a first look at Tom Holland at work on the set of Christopher Nolan’s swords-and-sandals epic “The Odyssey” has arrived.

The photos have spread across social media and strongly suggest Holland will portray Telemachus, son of Odysseus (Matt Damon) in the Greek mythology epic about Odysseus’ and his journey home after the Trojan War.

In the story, Telemachus embarks on a journey to find his father who has been missing for many years after the Trojan War. The photos show Holland, Nolan and co. on old fashioned boats sailing on the young man’s journey.

Holland himself is dressed in a dark green cloak and brown garbs to the point that more than a few people have already made comparisons to Frodo Baggins.

Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, Mia Goth, Samantha Morton, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Corey Hawkins, Bill Irwin, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Nick Tarabay, Jimmy Gonzales, and Maurice Compte co-star in the film which is shooting in the UK, Sicily and Morocco.

Nolan’s “The Odyssey” is set to hit cinemas on July 17th 2026.

Still can't get over the fact that Christopher Nolan is making a period sword & sandal movie in THE ODYSSEY. Seems so entirely improbable & a mismatch of filmmaker & material, tone & style. But I guess we'll see.
