Ich wusste bis gestern nicht, dass Pablo Escobar mit La Catedral so eine Art privates Luxusgefängnis bewohnt hat, in dem er auf Einladung Freunde, Profifußballspieler oder Prostituierte empfing, hatte zu dieser Zeit allerdings auch ganz andere Dinge im Kopf und mich auch später eher wenig um das Leben von Escobar geschert. Die Macher von Atrium jedenfalls haben versucht, eben jenen Knast, der so richtig keiner war, zu rekonstruieren und das ist gar nicht mal uninteressant.

In 1991, Pablo Escobar surrendered himself to La Catedral, a prison he personally designed and controlled, staffed with his own guards, maids, and closest associates.

Sadly, La Catedral has since vanished, leaving only fragments of its story behind. In this video, we bring it back to life through detailed 3D reconstructions.

This so-called „prison“ featured two soccer fields, a bar, a casino, a jacuzzi, and more—earning its place in history as perhaps the most luxurious detention facility ever built. The government deliberately kept its insides a secret to prevent public outrage.
